Diabetes

Our diabetes team works to improve the health of people with diabetes types 1 and 2 and endocrine disorders via education, training, research and through other services it provides. Our department consists of a multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialist registrars, associate specialists, nurse consultant, clinical nurse specialists, dieticians and podiatrists, extending into the community to local primary care trusts. Our team works in close collaboration with ophthalmologists, vascular surgeons, endocrine surgeons, obstetricians and paediatricians. In addition to a large outpatient service, the department also provides a daily consultation service for inpatients with diabetes and are responsible for the care of inpatients in whom diabetes is the cause of admission to hospital.
